Wayne Olexa Obituary – Wayne Olexa, 76, of Crafton PA, some time ago of Swissvale, PA, died on Sunday, November 14, 2021, after a long session with the Steelers. He was at his home with family when they went into additional time against the 0-8 Detroit Lions and that was everything he could take.
Wayne was brought into the world on September 3, 1945, in Swissvale, PA to Albert and Mary (Staley) Olexa. The most youthful in the family, Wayne was an active child who dominated sports. A champion in baseball, football, and b-ball at Swissvale High School, he graduated in 1963 after being chosen to the All-WPIAL group and being named Outstanding Senior Athlete. He got a grant from Oklahoma State University where he went one year before moving to West Virginia Wesleyan. At West Virginia Wesleyan, he proceeded with his athletic ability playing three games (baseball, football, b-ball). He was named to the main group of 1966 All West Virginia Athletic Conference football crew and was co-commander of the 1967 Bobcats football crew.
Wayne was accepted into both the Swissvale High School Hall of Fame and the West Virginia Wesleyan’s Hall of Fame for every one of the three games; baseball, football, and ball. He was welcome to go for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1966 and after playing semi-proficient baseball, he in the end wedded his better half of 45 years, Jolie Vogel Olexa.
He cherished hunting, fishing, and the outside which he offered to his youngsters and grandkids. His cherished spot on earth was “The Camp ” where he actually holds the record for the second greatest buck. Wayne had an allure and appeal that was evident. He was a long way from great, however, he was the patriarch of the family, and his misfortune is profoundly felt by all. Wayne is made due by his significant other, Jolie, girls, Allison (Ken) Dunlap and Tara (Corey) Madonna, and child, Erik (Katie) Olexa. He was gone before in death by his child, Keith; father and mother, Albert and Mary; and his two siblings, Richard and John.
