John Hilgert Obituary – John Hilgert messaged a colleague Friday morning about getting to NRG right on time for the Astroworld Festival. The 14-year-old Memorial High School rookie expected an excellent spot to see the entertainers, pay attention to music and assimilate the experience. Hilgert and schoolmate Robby Hendrix, 15, experienced childhood in the Memorial region and played together in an adolescent football crew.
They went to the show independently with different companions. Hendrix got back. Hilgert didn’t. He was one of eight killed when the sold-out horde of 50,000 flooded during Travis Scott’s exhibition.
“Everything regarding that evening was a misfortune,” said Tracy Faulkner, Hendrix’s mother who has known Hilgert since he was a kid. “John was a decent understudy and competitor thus affable. He was the best and most intelligent young fellow.”
Hilgert, who was 6 feet tall, likewise played in a world-class ball club.
“They were both in a similar spot simultaneously and one got back home and one we won’t ever see,” Faulkner said.
Remembrance High School sent a letter out to guardians Saturday about Hilgert’s demise. Instructors will be accessible at school one week from now.
