Whether you have just started a new business, or looking to expand, you would want to take a deeper dive into marketing. Although traditional marketing methods are still a viable option for most businesses, they can be a bit expensive for start-ups. 

Online marketing is not only highly effective for start-ups and new businesses, but it can also be somewhat lighter on the budget than traditional marketing. 

So, how do you go about digital marketing, and how can you make use of the relevant platforms and tools available to you in this day and age? We took a look at some of the ways that brands all around the world are marketing their businesses in 2022 and what is working for them. So, let’s get stuck in. 

Reach out to Social Platforms 

Some of the most successful channels within digital marketing are the social media channels. Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and TikTok can be highly profitable avenues for your company if you know how to capitalize on them. 

The trick to social media marketing though, is creating a community of followers that you create content for. A community that is engaged and converts with the right content is highly profitable. So, stop looking for a large number of non-engaged followers, and even bots, and rather focus on building up followers who are actually loyal to your brand. 

Take Instagram followers, for example; you will want to reach out to followers who actually respond to your posts, and who eventually convert. You want real people with real spending power. In order to do this, you will need to start creating content that educates them and entertains them, and focus on what your community actually wants.

Focus on your SEO 

A lot of companies are weary of the term SEO, simply because they don’t know what it is and how to approach it. The fact of the matter is that SEO, once you get the hang of it, is not that tricky. 

The first thing to do is know what keywords your desired audience is searching for and then ensure that they appear on your site as well as all of your marketing. Keyword research is the easiest way to do this, but it is important to do it regularly. There are often new trends and social factors which will impact what your customer is searching for. A good example is the COVID-19 pandemic. Businesses globally radically altered their copy to cater to the new searches and they found themselves ranking differently on Google searches than before. 

There are some really evolved tools to help you along your SEO journey. From the integrations on your site, like Yoast to SEO audit platforms, you can find all the help you need online. When you start ranking high in the Google results and gaining organic traffic, you will start seeing your conversion rates increasing substantially. 

Have a Budget for Marketing 

We have seen a ton of companies who simply don’t put money aside for their marketing reach. The problem with this is that you simply won’t be seen by your direct target audience. As much as SEO is key, and getting the right keywords on your site is important, you will actually need to put money behind these keywords for them to actually reach the audience that you want. 

So, have a budget to boost posts on Facebook and Instagram, for example. If you see a certain post is doing really well, put some money behind it and boost it so that a wider audience will see the post.

The same can be said for paid ads. Put money behind those keywords and get them ranking on the top of the Google results to actually be seen by an audience who is searching for the words. 

Test, Monitor and Measure Everything 

The only way that you will know that something is a success is if you are actually monitoring how it’s doing. Your email and social platforms do allow you to track and measure the success of the posts. You are able to watch conversion rates, click-throughs and opens. 

With this information, you are able to establish which campaigns are successful and which aren’t. From there, you can plan your future campaigns, knowing that your audience responds well to that particular content.

Marketing in this day and age is really about trying and testing new things all the time. See what works for your company, and what doesn’t and take it from there. The more you test out new methods and content, the more likely you will be to find out what actually captures your audience’s attention. Keep adapting and evolving and you will soon find success.
