Jan Crandall Obituary – Jan was conceived April 7, 1952, in Quincy, Ill. She was the little girl of Tom and Doris Manning. She moved on from Shawnee Mission South High School in Overland Park, Kan., in 1970, and from Baker University, Baldwin City, Kan., in 1974. At Baker University, Jan was an individual from Alpha Chi Omega sorority. In the wake of moving on from Baker University, Jan wedded Doug Crandall on May 11, 1974.
She showed school in the Topeka Kansas School System while Doug went to graduate school. Jan and her significant other moved to Carthage, keeping Doug’s graduation from graduate school in June 1978. Jan later got back to school and procured her graduate degree in English in 1988, from Pittsburg State University. She was a teacher in the English Department at Missouri Southern State University for more than 20 years and was the chief head of the Carthage R-9 School Foundation, which she set up.
Following school, Jan stayed dynamic in Alpha Chi Omega for a very long time, filling in as the public president for two terms, from 1996 to 2000. She stood firm on various different footings with Alpha Chi Omega including the leader of the Alpha Chi Omega National Housing Corporation, trustee of the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation, National Extension chief, National Panhellenic Conference delegate, National Rush chief, National Rush guest, and region president for Kansas and Missouri.
Locally, Jan was a functioning individual from the McCune-Brooks Hospital Auxiliary, Republican Lincoln Ladies, Carthage Tiger Booster Club, MSSU Lionbackers, Carthage Women’s Service League, Missouri Southern State University International Piano Competition, Dogwood Garden Club, past leader of Chapter HH PEO Sisterhood, The Shakespeare Society, Kanakuk Angel Mom, Rotary Ann and a host parent of U.S.A. Baseball. Jan was a functioning individual from the First United Methodist Church, of Carthage, and served on various Church Boards.
