Gene Chinander Obituary – Passed Away! Quality Chinander, long-term Iowa secondary school football trainer and the dad of Nebraska Defensive Coordinator Erik Chinander, passed on Thursday in an accident only southwest of Allison, Iowa.
As per the Iowa State Patrol, Gene Chinander, 69 was going south in a 2019 Ram pickup when he neglected to stop at the crossing point of Highways 14 and 3. Chinander’s vehicle left the street and hit a semi-trailer in a parking area.
Eric Chinander was a hostile lineman for the Iowa Hawkeyes from 1998 to 2002. He’s been Nebraska Defensive Coordinator starting around 2018, when he followed Scott Frost to Nebraska from the University of Central Florida.
