Steve Smith Death – Previous Raiders fullback Steve Smith passed on Saturday in his old neighborhood of Richardson, Texas, after an extended fight with ALS, the group declared. He was 57.
“The Raiders Family is profoundly disheartened by the death of Steve Smith, who bravely fought Lou Gehrig’s Disease for a long time,” the Las Vegas Raiders said in an assertion. “Steve and his significant other Chie are a motivation, grinning each day while continually working for a remedy for ALS. The supplications of the whole Raider Nation are with Chie, their kids Dante and Jazmin, and their grandson Little Steve.”
Smith was drafted by the Los Angeles Raiders in the third round of the 1987 draft following a prevailing four-year run at Penn State incorporating a title season in 1986. Smith went through seven seasons with the Raiders, piling up 1,528 yards and seven scores and filling in as the lead blocker for both Bo Jackson and Marcus Allen, among others.
He played his two last seasons in the association with the Seattle Seahawks prior to resigning after the 1995 season.
Smith was determined to have ALS almost twenty years prior. He hasn’t had the option to walk or talk in years and was battling with the assistance of machines and his better half Chie.
