Tractor Trailer Accident Charlotte NC – A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police official was killed, and three different officials were harmed, following an accident including two trucks on Interstate 85 early Wednesday morning.
Official Mia Goodwin, 33, a six-year veteran of the power, passed on when she and her kindred officials were hit by the trucks around 3:40 a.m.
“The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is harming,” Chief Johnny Jennings said. “We grieve the deficiency of Police Officer Goodwin.”
Goodwin, and individual officials Jackson Buffington, Sean Husk, and Shannon Foster, were helping the North Carolina State Highway Patrol with shutting down a part of the interstate in upper east Charlotte close to West WT Harris Boulevard. These officials had calmed before officials who had shut down the interstate later a truck conveying grain spilled a tacky substance on the street around 10:30 p.m.
Around 1 a.m., enough of the street had been cleaned to permit one southward path to return. Around 3:40 a.m., two trucks voyaged southward impacted. Those vehicles then, at that point, slammed into the CMPD officials, as indicated by Jennings.
“We had an office that had been hit while she was in her vehicle,” Jennings clarified. “[She] called it in and started evaluating the wounds of the officials that were harmed on the scene including herself.”
Goodwin capitulated to her wounds at the scene while Buffington, Husk, and Foster were moved by Medic to the clinic for treatment. Every one of the three was let out of the clinic later Wednesday morning.
